13abc reporter Bill Hormann talked with Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan following the congressman's speech before a crowd of 1,000 people in Swanton, Ohio.
Vice-presidential hopeful Paul Ryan greeted hundreds Monday afternoon at the Toledo Express Airport.
"We are not just deciding who's going to be the next president for the next four years," said Ryan to supporters. "We are deciding the meaning of America."
Ryan used his time to talk about his views on foreign policy....criticizing proposed defense spending cuts by the Obama administration. "If you look around the world, what we are witnessing is the unraveling of the Obama foreign policy," said Ryan.
Ryan also tackled the number one issue this election year in a one on one interview with 13abc. The Wisconsin congressman worries America's economic crisis could mirror the one in Europe if new leadership isn't elected. "If you take a look at what's going on in Europe, they're losing their health and retirement benefits in real time," said Ryan in an interview with Bill Horman. "The youth unemployment rate is sky-rocketing. We can prevent that from happening here, but we need real leadership to do that."
Republican supporters say they're looking for someone who can get more people back to work, and they believe Ryan and Romney are the men to do it.
"I think because of his business background and is able to work with both sides that we can finally bring this country together and get things accomplished," said Debbie Hymore-Tester, a small business owner, at the Monday rally.
Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden face off in a debate this Thursday at 9 P.M. Both Romney and President Obama will be in the Buckeye State campaigning Tuesday...Obama in Columbus and Romney in Cuyahoga Falls.
