This whole week is dedicated to fire prevention and safety. Toledo fire officials and safe kids of greater Toledo are making their rounds to Toledo schools making sure students know what to do in case of a fire.
Students at are getting a lesson in knowing a way out. It's called the great escape.
"It simulates living condition. It simulates fire places in living rooms,hazards in the kitchen," says Dennis Kookoothe, Toledo Fire Department
Students learn the fastest way to get to safety in the case of a fire. Officials say they want students to take what they learn today and educate their families on fire safety.
"The more you can be prepared in the even of an emergency, the more ready your family is," says ERin Whittom, Safe Kids of Greater Toledo
Officials say to check the batteries in smoke detectors monthly! if you don't have a working smoke detector- you can always pick one up for free at any Toledo fire station.
