Toledo police and the alcohol tobacco and firearms agents say they've dismantled one of the violent gangs in our community. Eleven people have been arrested and face serious charges.
Toledo police say these are pictures of the eleven suspected Bee Hive gang members arrested.
"The bee hive gang is a crip associated gang. This gang has been involved in fights, drive by shootings and homicides in the past several years," Police Chief Derrick Diggs
A year ago TPD and ATF agents started tracking the gangs illegal activity. The lead detective Bill Noon says these suspected violent criminals have caused the city lots of problems in the last two years. Authorities say since the investigation started drugs and 30 guns have been either bought or taken from the group.
"Most of the time they are weapons taken out of burglaries or theft from vehicles and then they do sell them back on the streets," said Detective Bill Noon.
Many of the alleged gang members were picked up from the Bancroft and Franklin avenue area. Concerned citizens scared to show their face hope officers will go after other gangs.
"I think this is one of the things needed in this community in this city," said a concerned citizen.
In a community that's been plagued by gun violence and 24 people murdered just this year.
"You're talking about taking drug dealers, burglars, shooters off the street. So in those specific neighborhoods that they hung out in, I think that those individuals that live in those neighborhoods will probably feel a little safer," said detective Noon.
