Packo case ends with not guilty verdict

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

After a two year investigation the Packo case has come to an end.

Jurors found Tony Packo III and his business associate Cathleen Dooley not guilty of stealing money from the company.

There were tears of relief as the words not guilty echoed through the court room. Tony Packo III says he's glad to say it's finally over, but he says it should have never gotten to this point.

"As an individual that was honored to have a wonderful family business and be part of an icon that the community supported for so many years, it was unfortunate to see this happen. However at the end of the day to say that justice was served is an enormous relief and it's a credit to the people of Lucas County," says tony Packo III

Packo III's father arrived just moments after the verdict came down.

"The corporation as far as tony Packo's is a viable and successful operation and has been and always will be," says Tony Packo Jr.

Attorney's say the believe the jurors had no problem in deciding Packo III's and Dooley's fate. The trial lasted for 2 weeks, jurors deliberated for less than an hour.

"I think the speed in which the verdict came down speaks volumes of what the state didn't have," says Rick Kerger, attorney

Prosecutors did not wish to comment.
