McDonald's to host "nutritional open-house"

Posted: Updated:

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) -- Most of us have eaten there at one point or another, but have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a McDonald's?

Consider this a peek beyond the golden arches.

The McDonald's Co-Op of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan is hosting an open door tour at a McDonald's restaurant today.  The news release says it's meant for "local nutrition influentials" and bloggers.

Of course, that includes the Restaurant Report Card.

We'll hear what McDonalds is doing to offer better nutrition choices, wholesome menu items and food preparation.

Over the past decade, the McDonald's corporation has become a target for many special interest groups, especially in the wake of the documentary "Supersize Me."

The tour at 11 a.m. is meant to generate positive buzz about what goes on behind the counter.
