The No. 15 Toledo women's cross country team hits the road this weekend for two races at Wisconsin and Louisville. The top six runners will run in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational Friday in Madison, WI at 1:00 p.m. CDT, while the rest of the squad will race in the Pre-NCAA Invitational Saturday in Louisville, KY at 11:00 a.m. EST.
The women's team is coming off a stellar performance at the Kansas Rim Rock Farm Invitational two weeks ago. The Rockets finished just behind No. 8 Michigan after the Wolverines overtook them in the final 200 meters.
As a result, Toledo received the highest-national ranking in Mid-American Conference history at No. 15, and sophomore Mackenzie Chojnacky earned her second MAC Runner of the Week award. The Rockets have spent the entire season in the national coaches' poll.
The two-time defending MAC champions will try to capture their third-straight title on Oct. 27 in Buffalo, NY.
The Toledo men's cross country team will also run in the Pre-NCAA meet in Louisville tomorrow morning at 10:45 a.m. EST.
Led by sophomore Jake Kasperski, the young Rockets are looking to build up momentum heading into MAC championships in two weeks. The men placed eighth overall at the Kansas Rim Rock Invitational among a strong field of teams two weeks ago, and finished in the top five at the Inter-Regional Bubble Buster and Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener earlier in the season.
