GOP's Ryan visits Ohio; first lady also in state

Posted: Updated:

CINCINNATI (AP) - Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan tells supporters in southwestern Ohio that they're in "the battleground state of battleground states" and they must vote for growth over stagnation in three weeks.

Ryan spoke to about 500 supporters at a Cincinnati airport on a chilly, breezy Monday afternoon before serving them barbecue.

The visit means the Republican ticket has been in the swing state 6 of the last eight days. Ryan and Mitt Romney campaigned in different Ohio cities Saturday.

First lady Michelle Obama also will be in the state Monday as the race for November enters its final weeks.

Democratic President Barack Obama heads Wednesday to Ohio University in Athens. Former President Bill Clinton and music star Bruce Springsteen will campaign Thursday for Obama in Parma.
