Learning to live with Crohn's disease

Posted: Updated:

Nearly 52,000 people in Ohio suffer from Crohn's or Colitis, and almost 2,000 of them live in Lucas County.  Sari Kripke is one of those people...she's been living with Crohn's disease for four years.

She will be honored this weekend at the 'Take Steps Walk for Crohn's and Colitis' on Saturday at UTMC.  The one to three mile stroll is put on to raise money and awareness about research, patient care and support of inflammatory bowel disease or IBD.

Sari's parents say watching their child go through so much pain was difficult, but opened up their eyes to Crohn's and Colitis.

"You  look healthy, you're doing things just like anyone else," say Matt & Jill Kripke. "So people don't understand a lot."

Walk registration opens at 3 o'clock, and the actual event kicks off at 4 30 PM.  To get more information on how you can get involved, visit http://online.ccfa.org/site/TR?fr_id=3888&pg=entry.
