    Toledo firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Toledo. The fire broke out at a home on the 1100 block of Avondale just after 11:30pm Tuesday. Dispatchers tell us heavy flames are showing.
    Toledo firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire in Toledo. Firefighters say they found a strong odor of gasoline inside of the home, indicating the house was possibly the target of a firebombing.

NEW LOCAL NEWS

1. POLICE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

An afternoon motorcycle accident sent a Toledo Police officer to the hospital. Investigators say the officer on motorcycle was trying to stop a reckless motorcyclist in the 1700 block of Gilbert. We're told the officer lost the drive and crashed into a light pole. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover. Police did find the other motorcycle but not the driver.

2. OTTAWA HILLS GIRLS' SPORTS

Ottawa Hills tonight voted to approve two new varsity sports to the high school. The board voted to make girls' soccer and lacrosse varsity sports. For the last year parents, players and coaches have been working together to be recognized by the district. The move also puts the district in compliance with a federal law, prohibiting gender discrimination.

3. EARLY VOTING

(AP) - Republican Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO'-sted) says it's time to move on after the Supreme Court denied his request to get involved in a dispute over early voting in the battleground state. The high court's move clears the way for early voting on the final three days before Election Day.

4. SCHOOL RATINGS

(AP) - Officials have rescheduled the release of Ohio school and district ratings that have been delayed amid a statewide review of student-attendance data. The Ohio Department of Education now tentatively plans to release the report cards tomorrow. Results are still considered preliminary as Ohio Auditor Dave Yost investigates enrollment and attendance irregularities around the state.

5. EAST COAST EARTHQUAKE

(AP) - The U.S. Geological Survey is lowering the estimated magnitude of an earthquake centered just west of Portland, Maine, tonight. The tremor has been downgraded to 4.0 from 4.6. So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries from the quake that was felt as far south as Connecticut.

6. MENINIGITIS INVESTIGATION

(AP) - Members of Congress want the Justice Department to investigate a company linked to a nationwide outbreak of meningitis. Lawmakers want to know whether the New England Compounding Center violated federal laws or regulations. Officials say 233 illnesses, including 15 deaths, in 15 states are linked to the outbreak.
