BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – College Sports Madness named Bowling Green's A'uston Calhoun preseason first-team all-conference and Jordon Crawford preseason third-team all-conference, as announced Thursday.
Calhoun, a second-team all-league performer a year ago, joined Ohio's D.J. Cooper, Toledo's Rian Pearson, Kent State's Randal Holt, and Akron's Zeke Marshall on the first team. Cooper was named CSM's preseason Player of the Year.
Akron's Alex Abreu, Buffalo's Javon McCrea, Ohio's Walter Offut, Northern Illinois' Abdel Nader, and Eastern Michigan's Da'Shonte Riley earned second team honors. Crawford was a member of the third team along with Toledo's Julius Brown, Miami's Bill Edwards, Eastern Michigan's Glenn Bryant, and Ohio's Ivo Baltic.
Calhoun started all 32 games a year ago, averaging a team-best 13.6 points per game. In league games, he ranked fifth in the MAC at 15.1 points and shot 50.3 percent from the floor. In all games, Calhoun shot 48.5 percent from the floor and averaged 5.9 rebounds per contest.
Crawford averaged 11.3 points per game and handed out 153 assists, ninth-most in BGSU history. In conference games, he was second in the MAC with 5.2 assists per contest. As a point guard, Crawford also shot a respectable 45 percent from the floor and had 50 steals. He shot 76 percent from the free-throw line.
Bowling Green plays its annual Orange and Brown scrimmage Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Stroh Center. The Falcons then host an exhibition game against Central State Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. before the team's season opener at home against Lake Erie Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
