UT celebrates “Banned Books Week”

Posted: Updated:

From 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' to 'The Princess Bride,' they were books that were banned from schools for decades.

Thursday, the University of Toledo hosted its annual Banned Books Week Vigil to celebrate the right to read.

One professor says it's an issue that affects students from kindergarten all the way up to the university level.

"We're here to celebrate the freedom to read and the freedom to read what we want. It's a democratic right and the right of any public university," says Honors Professor Glenn Sheldon.

The university will host Mark Twain night Friday at 7 p.m. in Libbey Hall. The event will feature a Twain impersonator.
