It's a dance that dozens of doctors, nurses and breast cancer survivors hope will win the grand prize of $10,000. Its through a contest called the Pink Glove Dance and Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, Michigan is taking part.
"It was just awesome to be there,"Cherokee Whiteman, a nurse in surgery said.
"For me if it has anything to do with volunteer, I'm all about it, " Dr. Laura Katz said.
The idea came from Medline Industries, the manufacturer of the gloves. each October the company sends out pink ones, to promote awareness and then, the Pink Glove Dance was born. More than 200 hospitals across the country have entered to win the prize. If Mercy Memorial Wins, they plan to give the money to Susan G. Komen of Northwest Ohio.
"The affiliate funds our breast cancer screening program for under insured women," Molly Moore said.
The money will help hundreds of women in the community get mammograms. For many who took part it hits close to home.
Mindy Gruden was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2008. She's now a survivor.
"Its a good and fun way to get that message out where you can do the dance, it was a good time," she said.
The hope is to raise awareness with a little music and a lot of fun.
