TOLEDO, Ohio -
Police confirm one child has died and another is in the hospital after fire broke out at home located at 721 Vinton Street in South Toledo Friday evening.
A four-year-old boy and his two-year-old sister were both taken to St. Vincent's Hospital. The boy died from his injuries. The condition of the girl is unknown at this time. We're told the children's mother was also treated at the hospital.
Fire officials say a rescue squad was called to the house around 7:30 p.m. responding to a report on an unconscious child. They found the children and their mother on the porch before they discovered a fire at the location and called for a fire crew.
Investigators say the fire started in a bedroom, but the cause is unknown at this time.
