Kroger grocery stores are discontinuing alfalfa and bean sprouts in their Toledo area stores.
Our media partner the Toledo Blade reports Kroger is no longer selling the produce items due to potential food safety risks.
The grocery chain says they want to make sure customers are safe and after multiple recalls of sprouts in the past few years they don't want to take the risk.
Wal-mart stopped selling sprouts back in 2010 after a salmonella outbreak.
