Offensive Player of the Week: Kent State RB Trayion Durham
Sophomore running back Trayion Durham (Cincinnati, Ohio) ran for a career-high 124 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries (6.5 avg.) in a 41-24 win over Western Michigan. Durham's second-quarter, 19-yard touchdown run came on a fourth down. His 33-yard run in the fourth quarter set up a first-and-goal and the go-ahead touchdown by Dri Archer on the next play. Seven of Durham's 19 carries were good for first downs.
Defensive Player of the Week: Bowling Green LB Dwayne Woods
Senior linebacker Dwayne Woods (Cincinnati, Ohio) had two tackles, a pass break up and an interception returned for a touchdown in the Falcons 24-0 win at UMass. Woods' 48-yard interception return put Bowling Green up 21-0 late in the third quarter to secure the win. Woods and the entire Falcon defense held the Minutemen to just 118 total yards, including 33 passing on 34 attempts. The shutout was the Falcons first since 2004 and their first road shutout since 2001.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Kent State K Freddie Cortez
Senior kicker Freddie Cortez (Fort Meade, Fla.) made both of his field goal attempts, including a season-long 46-yarder in Kent State's 41-24 win over Western Michigan. Cortez made a 43-yarder in the fourth quarter to give the Flashes a two-possession lead. Cortez had three kickoffs for touchbacks and also went 5-for-5 on extra points. Cortez has made his last eight field goal attempts and tied Josh Cribbs as Kent State's all-time scoring leader with 246 points.
Offensive Player of the Week: Eastern Michigan QB Tyler Benz
Sophomore quarterback Tyler Benz (Park Ridge, Ill.) threw for five touchdown passes, good for the second-most in the history of the program, in a 48-38 win over Army. Benz was 19 of 31 passing for a career-high 369 yards passing and also added five rushes for 16 yards in the contest.
Defensive Player of the Week: Ball State DT Nathan Ollie
Junior defensive tackle Nathan Ollie (Chicago, Ill.) managed five tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery in Ball State's 41-30 win at Central Michigan on Saturday.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Toledo KR Bernard Reedy
Junior kick returner Bernard Reedy (St. Petersburg, Fla.) had the key play in the game with a 91 yards kickoff return for a touchdown in a 29-23 win over No. 21 ranked Cincinnati. With Cincinnati taking its first lead of the game, 20-19, in the third quarter, Reedy took the ensuing kickoff 91 yards for the score to give Toledo a lead it never relinquished. It was the second straight game Reedy returned a kickoff for a touchdown and third score on special teams in the last three games. Reedy also had 38 yards on three punt returns, including a long of 15 yards.
