The City of Columbus is paying big to settle a lawsuit over potholes.
That's putting all cities across Ohio on notice.
Columbus is paying $1.25 million to settle a lawsuit that claims that large potholes on a city street contributed to a crash back in January of 2006 that left a bicyclist paralyzed.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that the decision by Columbus City Council to settle puts cities across the state on notice that they can be held liable for streets in disrepair.
The bicyclist claimed he wasn't able to avoid a passing car because of large potholes in his path.
