Biden says Romney/Ryan in Denial

Posted: Updated:

Vice President Joe Biden spoke to a crowd of supporters one day after the final presidential debate.  His appearance at the University of Toledo energized the partisan crowd and attacked the Republican ticket of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan as in denial about America's progress over the last four years.

The vice president painted Mitt Romney as out of touch, negative and wrong for the middle class.

"Toledo, you've got your rockets and we've got the country's got Obama..."

Joe Biden's been all over Ohio, more times than he says he can remember.  And after four debates, he and the president have developed a sharp line of attack against mitt Romney.

"A foreign policy out of the '80s, the social policy out of the '50s and an economic policy out of the 20s"

Seven hundred people heard Joe Biden talk about the president's priorities... in healthcare for women... tuition help for students... a foreign policy that has America leading the world in the 21-st century... and he attacked Mitt Romney's plan to jump start the economy, saying RRomney and Ryan should not pledge tax cuts for the wealthy but make a solemn pledge to working Americans.

"They should be signing a pledge to you the middle class, saying we're going to level the playing field, saying we are going to give folks an even chance, saying we're going to get the middle class back in the game."

Mr. Biden knows Ohio is pivotal in this election, that's why he's been here nearly every week saying the auto bailout has Ohio working again.

"Right here in Ohio, more than 100,000 jobs are directly tied to the auto industry.  Steel is coming back in Canton, Youngstown and Lorain."

And he charged the Romney campaign theme-- that America is in decline-- is nothing more than Romney being in denial about America's progress over the last four years.

"The American people are bringing their country back. They're not going to go back and where we come from.  There's only one direction: that's to move forward, not backward."

Women, students and the middle class are each big targets in this election for both sides.  Today, the vice president spoke to his crowd.  He believes Ohio, and the country, will be his crowd on election day.
