The Express golf team finished 15th out of 18 teams in the University of Dayton Fall Invitational, but they were the only junior college school in the field, while all others were NCAA D-I.
The Express shot a two-day total of 616 (310-306) to finish ahead of Butler University (617), Robert Morris University (618) and Chicago State University (752). The 616 total was also very close to some schools ahead of them including: Evansville University (613), BGSU (612), Ohio University (610), IUPUI (610) and Northern Kentucky University (609). Thus, the Express finished seven strokes off the top 10 in a field of NCAA D-I schools.
Individually, the Express were led by Brandon Hoelzer, who shot a two-day total of 150 (78-72) to finish tied for 27th. Just behind him were Blaze Hogan (152), Darren Gessner (156), Luke Berger (159) and Walter Dorosh (165).
Hoelzer's second day 72 was tied for 8th place among all second day scores.
Oakland University won the tournament with a 578 score, while IPFW finished second with a 588.
Nick Cunningham of Oakland University finished the tournament with a two-under 140 to take home first place.
