The first and only televised debate between incumbent Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur and Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher aired live on 13abc Friday evening.
The candidates fielded questions from a panel of reporters, including 13abc's Diane Larson and Bill Hormann and Political Reporter Tom Troy of The Blade.
Representative Kaptur of Toledo has represented the 9th district in Congress since 1983 . She is the longest-serving Democratic woman in the history of the House of Representatives.
Challenger Wurzelbacher rose to national prominence after questioning Presidential candidate Barack Obama about tax policy. He has been a featured speaker, author and commentator.
Friday night's debate was the only traditional debate between the candidates during the campaign. The forum was co-sponsored by 13abc Action News and The Blade.
