Northwood Police officer injured in morning accident

(WTVG) -- A Northwood Police officer was sent to the hospital Saturday morning after an accident around 2:00am.

Police say a car was traveling Southbound on I-280 near mile marker 7 when the driver lost control and went off the road.

Northwood and Oregon police responded to the scene.

While the officers were assisting at the accident another vehicle crashed into the back of a Northwood Police vehicle.

The officer was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released..

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Police say alcohol seemed to be a factor in the crash.
