Three seriously injured in Monroe Co. crash

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. -

Two people are listed in serious condition and another in critical condition after a crash in Bedford Township Saturday night.

The Sheriff's office says their preliminary investigation shows that Charles A. Darr, 72, of Toledo was driving southbound on Douglas Road with passengers Denise Darr, 63 and Nancy Coleman, 71.

Darr attempted to make a left turn into eastbound Summerfield Road and pulled in front of a motorcycle operated by Michael W. Hofmann, 37. The motorcycle struck Mr. Darr's Pontiac and was Hoffman was thrown from the bike.

Mr. Darr was not injured in the crash. Mrs. Darr, Ms. Coleman and Mr. Hofmann were transported to Toledo Hospital. Mrs. Darr and Ms. Coleman are listed in serious condition. Mr. Hofmann is listed in critical condition.

Witnesses at the scene said the motorcycle had the right of way. Mr. Hofmann was not wearing a helmet. Investigators said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
