FINDLAY - The University of Findlay men's soccer team defeated Northwood University by the score of 3-0 on Sunday, Oct. 28 in Findlay, Ohio.
The Oilers first found the back of the net in the 26th minute when Nock Soncrant got behind the Northwood defense after a throw-in and kicked his own rebound in for a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Findlay didn't waste any time extending their lead when Mark Sleasman headed in a loose ball in the box after the Northwood keeper lost his footing in a barrage of players. Then, in the 83rd minute, the Oilers sealed the win when Sleasman found Alex Oliver for a break-away goal.
Matthew Brooks picked up his seventh win of the season as keeper for the Oilers, as he was honored with a standing ovation when Alex Jurek replaced him as keeper in the final minutes of the match.
With the victory, Findlay finishes the season with a 6-9-1 overall record and a 3-9-1 mark in GLIAC play.
