The City of Toledo is getting ready for the big storm approaching.
Leaders say flooding isn't likely to be an issue. The wind is the problem that will take down trees and limbs.
Forestry crews are ready to work around the clock to keep roads clear.
"We're expecting the worst," says Denny Garvin, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation & Forestry for the City of Toledo. "The big thing of course is the wind. We're concerned about the effect on the trees and branches."
Garvin says forestry crews are on call and ready for clean-up.
"Right now it's just a regular day," says Garvin. "But we've already got overtime lists asking if people are ready to stay. We're ready to proceed as late as we have to."
Garvin says leaf pick up which just began today will continue on schedule. However, he warns not to put storm debris from your yard into the leaf piles. He says individual homeowners are responsible for that, not the city.
"We'll take stuff that has fallen off trees between the sidewalk and the curb on the right-of-way, but if people have stuff that fall in their own yards, please don't drag it out to the street. We're not equipped to pick that up," says Garvin.
