TPS hopeful voters will pass levy

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Toledo Public Schools are pushing voters to pass Issue 20, a 4.9 mil levy.

District leaders say teachers' jobs are on the line. They've already made a $100 in cuts and there's nothing left to trim but personnel.

Issue 20 would help TPS close a projected budget shortfall of more than $30 million and generate an estimated $13 million a year for the district.

But TPS hasn't convinced voters to support a new levy since 2000 and in 2010, voters turned down not one, but two levies.

Still, district leaders remain hopeful that voters will say yes.
