Deadline for Ohio Veteran Bonus

Posted: Updated:

It's a program that goes back to the Civil War:  every veteran in Ohio is eligible for a bonus.  But  they face a deadline to apply to get their money.

The Ohio Department of Veterans Services says Persian Gulf vets can apply until December 31st of 2013.

Iraq and Afghanistan vets can apply up to three years after the president declares an end to involvement in those wars.

Bonuses are between $50 a month up to $1500 monthly depending on service.  Surviving family members can get up to $6500.
