Rash of burglaries in West Toledo

Posted: Updated:

Toledo police and undercover detectives are taking extra trips around West Toledo. Officers say The crooks are ripping of TV's, laptops whatever they can get their hands on. Their MO is the same.

Police say the crooks strike in broad daylight. They back the car in the drive way, kick in the front or back, or break a window. There's been a rash of burglaries. Detectives released a picture of one of the suspects.

Several quiet West Toledo neighbors have been hit by burglars. These are the hands of victim who says she's scared to stay home alone.

"It's like they invaded my privacy more than worried about the TV," said the victim.

She says the crooks got away with her 42 inch television. She showed us how the suspects tired to pry open her back door, but when they couldn't get in they broke this little window and unlocked the big window.  Detectives say the suspects MO is the same in every case.      Investigators are looking for more than one guy.

Here's a list of twelve streets the suspects have hit in West Toledo. It's mostly in the in the Upton, Berdan and Sylvania area. Some neighbors are getting involved to help police track down the bad guys

"A very attentive and alert neighbor took some very good photos for us one Philando Hudson we are currently looking for him right now," said Lt. Mark King.

The neighbor captured the suspects and the car used in the crime. Lt. Mark King urges everyone to watch out for their neighbor.

"If they see something out of the ordinary a person they haven't seen before that's not familiar to them maybe a vehicle parked nearby in a driveway if it doesn't look right it's probably not right they need to get on the phone and call 911 and tell us," said Lt. King.

Police believe Philando Hudson is responsible for at least one burglary in West Toledo. But they don't know if he's responsible for breaking into this single mother's home.

"I never seen anything suspicious and I know there's crimes and criminals in every neighborhood but I was more shocked that they decided to pick me," said the victim.

Police are looking for two cars the say were involved in some of the crimes. A bronze 1999 four door Toyota Camry Ohio license plate FPG8534 and a maroon 2012 four door Honda Civic Ohio plate FNY3750.

If you've seen these vehicles or the suspect in our story call police at 419-245-3195.
