Toledo Police have scheduled a press conference related to the carbon monoxide deaths of five family members, including three children, Monday night. The press conference is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Click
A somber Toledo police captain was at a loss to explain the actions of a grandmother who allegedly was responsible for the deaths of her three grandchildren on Monday.

Toledo and Sylvania Township police released new information into the carbon monoxide deaths of 3 kids at the hands of their grandmother and their uncle.

At a news conference Friday police gave a more detailed timeline into the deaths of Logan, Paige, and Madalyn Hayes along with Sandy Hayes and her son Andy.  All 5 were found inside a vehicle, with a hose connected to another vehicle.

Police say coloring books and crayons were found inside the vehicle.  Police say a note was found from one of the children but police are not releasing the details of any of the notes found in either the car or the home on Harvest Lane in West Toledo.

Investigators say the kids' grandmother Sandy took the kids from their Sylvania school before they ever made it to class.  Where she went after that is not clear, all investigators know for sure is where all of the kids and the adults were found.

At the news conference, police said they have had to intervene in issues with the family in just the last week.  This all stems from the kids' mother trying to regain custody of the kids.  They mother, Mandy Hayes, asked her mother to take the kids three years ago to tend to another one of their children, that according to Lucas County Children Services.

Police say this is still an ongoing investigation.
