Hillsdale County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a plane crash on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Adams Township, Michigan.
It happened just northwest of the intersection of Bacon and Bird Lake.
Authorities say they found a single engine plane that crashed into a wooded area.
The pilot, Clarence James Avery, 75, of Clark Lake Michigan, was killed. He was the only person on the plane.
The investigation has been turned over to the FAA in Detroit.
