Congress St. house fire also location of deadly shooting

Posted: Updated:

Investigators are trying to figure out what started a fire at 659 Congress St. in Toledo around 3:30 a.m.

It's the same location where Toledo Police say Ricardo "Richard" Soria, 47, was shot to death on his porch as he returned home from church in May 2009.

Two months later in July of 2009, Rogelio Carlin-Espinosa was shot to death outside of his apartment near Dorr Street. Police said the victim knew Soria and that there could be a connection. But no suspect was ever identified in either shooting.

Firefighters say the house appears occupied, but no one was home at the time of this morning's fire. They prevented the flames from spreading to the adjacent homes.

Arson Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
