University of Toledo facing $13 million budget shortfall

TOLEDO, Ohio -

Lower student enrollment is just one of the reasons the University of Toledo is in a bit of a budget crunch.

UT's projecting a $13 million shortfall this fiscal year. The school says it has implemented tighter admission standards and that could account for some of the shortfall.

But school officials say they also saw an increase in utility costs thanks to the hot summer.

And they say that the deficit could force cuts if the finances don't improve during the spring semester.
