IBM to add 500 jobs to new Ohio analytics center

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - IBM Corp. plans to ramp up its analytics operations in Ohio.

Company officials planned Thursday to announce that IBM will create a new analytics center in suburban Columbus. The move would bring 500 jobs over the next three years to the new center that's focused on data crunching and consulting services.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) and Ohio State University President Gordon Gee (gee) were expected to attend the morning news conference.

Ron Lovell is the vice president of the IBM Client Center for Advanced Analytics. He says new hires at the center would build computer applications and models to allow businesses to better draw conclusions from vast amounts of data.

Lovell said IBM also is collaborating with Ohio State on a new business and technology curricula for undergraduates.
