Toledo Area Humane Society wins big

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

The Toledo Area Humane Society is celebrating more than 1,000 adoptions between August and October, and they're being recognized in the ASPCA Rachel Ray $100,000 challenge!

Director of operations, Debbie Johnson says, "The challenge was to do 300 more adoptions than during that time period last year. So we knew our number to hit was 878 and we flew right past that number in October and kept right on going."

The ASPCA awarded the humane society with a check for $25,000 Friday afternoon.

"We are thrilled," says Johnson, "because we can turn around and use that money to do even more adoptions next year."
