13abc launched the "Hope for the Holidays" toy drive last year to provide the Salvation Army a boost in helping families during a challenging economy. Nearly 8,000 new bicycles, games, dolls and other toys were donated.

Thousands of new toys will be under the Christmas tree for needy children in Northwest Ohio thanks to an explosion of generosity!

The Hope for the Holidays all-day drive-thru event for toy donations ended with more than 6800 toys.  That includes all the gifts dropped off at the 13abc studios in the weeks leading up to today's drive-thru even.

13abc, Salvation Army, Gallon, Takacs, Boissoneault & Schaffer, Walmart, Hylant Group, and Vito's Pizza and Subs joined together to make this a happier holiday for so many deserving families.

It was a steady stream of donations at the 13abc Studios from 5:00am to 6:30pm today.

Elected leaders, team mascots, K-100 Radio, the Toledo Zoo, Imagination Station, and the Salvation Army were on hand to collect toys.

Vito's Pizza handed out free slices of pizza to everyone who contributed a toy. Area choirs sang carols and Santa greeted the children.

13abc's Diane Larson and Kristian Brown along with Chief Meteorologist Jay Berschback were there to report live from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

And if you didn't have a chance to donate today, you can donate anytime through December 21 at any one of dozens of drop off locations listed below:
