Holiday shopping safety

Posted: Updated:
WOOD COUNTY, Ohio -

Black Friday has come and gone, but there's no doubt holiday shopping is still in full swing. With more people hitting the shopping malls, the risk of someone trying to snatch your holiday gifts is very real!

Experts call it crimes of opportunity--meaning, if they can see it- it's a target. Experts also say finish all your shopping at once and try to avoid making multiple trips to your car.

"One thing we highly recommend is not to make trips back to your car because you think you might be hiding it under and coat or blanket, but people are watching you do that. We recommend that you hang onto them until you're finished shopping, sometimes stores will offer to keep things for you and pick them up at the end of the night.," says Casey Pogan, Marketing Director, Levis Commons

The big holiday shopping season gives thieves an ideal opportunity for ID theft. To protect yourself, put credit card receipts in your wallet instead of in your shopping bag where they are more likely to fall out.
