GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Lourdes was within five points of #9 Davenport at halftime on Saturday afternoon but the Panthers scored the first nine points of the second stanza on the way to a 76-57 victory over the Gray Wolves at the DU Student Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Early on it was Lourdes that jumped out to the quick lead, building a 21-11 advantage with under seven minutes to go in the first half. Corey Harvey (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson H.S.) hit four triples and scored 14 points to help spearhead the run.
Davenport answered with 15 straight points over a five-minute span to take a 26-21 lead, and carried a 30-25 advantage into the locker room.
The Panthers also scored the first nine points of the second half to push the lead to 14 and Lourdes could not get the deficit back to within single digits the rest of the way.
Harvey finished the night with a team-high 19 points, the only Gray Wolf to score in double figures. He went 5-of-9 from three-point range. Ken Smith (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook H.S.) added nine points for Lourdes as the Gray Wolves shot just 35.1% for the night. Lourdes also committed 21 turnovers.
Dominez Burnett led Davenport (8-1, 4-0 WHAC) with 22 points while Javontae Ford added 19 points and six rebounds. The Panthers shot 49% from the floor for the game, making 8-of-16 from three-point range.
Lourdes (5-3, 2-2) will return to Northwest Ohio on Tuesday evening to host Aquinas. The Gray Wolves will tip off against the Saints at approximately 8 p.m. at the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
