Trial nears end in slayings of 2 Michigan women

DETROIT (AP) - A trial is nearing the end for five men in the abduction, torture and killing of 2 Detroit-area women who were taken at gunpoint.

The Detroit News reports jurors in Detroit are expected to get the case Thursday in the deaths of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway.

Closing arguments got under way Wednesday. Authorities say the women were forced into a car trunk outside their Hamtramck home in February. Their bodies were discovered in March in shallow graves in a Detroit park. The women were bound and shot in the head.

Brandon Cain, Miguel Rodriguez, Brian Lee, Reginald Brown and Jeremy Brown are charged with first-degree murder, torture and unlawful imprisonment.

Cain and Lee were convicted in August in an earlier shooting incident involving the women.
