Josh Project inspiration remembered on his birthday

TOLEDO, Ohio -
Sixteen-year-old Josh Butts drowned back in 2006. That tragedy inspired his mother, Wanda Butts, to create the Josh Project - an organization dedicated to making sure kids know how to swim.
Wanda was recently honored as a CNN top 10 "Hero of the Year" for that work. Sunday, she celebrated Josh's birthday with a "Soul Food for Swimming" fundraiser for the organization.
"I never knew my son should know how to swim. I wasn't educated to that and that's another reason why we started the Josh Project, so parents would know the importance of their children learning to swim." Butts said.
The celebration served as the winter fundraiser for the organization.

Two Toledo firefighters suffered minor Monday morning after a fire in West Toledo. It happened in the 3600 block of Berkerly near Berdan.
