Governor John Kasich signed a new law that pushes tighter regulations on so called "puppy mills."
It's a bill that's been receiving support from animal rights and rescue groups across the state.
The law includes new rules for animals housed in the large scale operations and if the breeders are selling that must be licensed dog retailers.
A large scale breeder is defined by anyone that sells more than 9 litters of puppies a year.
An advisory board will also be put in place to oversee animal care at all of the facilities and random checks can now take place, to make sure animals are safe.
It's not exactly what proponents wanted, they were hoping the state would ban "puppy mills" but animal rights groups say it's a step in the right direction.@
