Cincinnati's $400 million downtown casino is now set to open March 4.
The Ohio Casino Control Commission signed off on that date Wednesday after meeting in Columbus with Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati's general manager, Kevin Kline.
The commission is planning to conduct an invite-only dry run of the casino on Feb. 27 before allowing it to open and anticipates some of the money generated from that will be given to local charities.
Construction on the two-story, 400,000-square-foot facility is about 90 percent finished, with work expected to wrap up next month, Kline told the commission.
Future dealers at the casino have been undergoing training while working to obtain licenses from the commission.
About half of the 2,000 slot machines that will be inside the casino have been delivered, with more than 500 on the gaming floor. Table games are expected to arrive next week.
The casino will be the last of four voter-approved casinos to open in the state in less than a year. Casinos in Cleveland, Toledo and Columbus opened starting in May.
Mayor Mark Mallory said in a news release that "the casino opening is an exciting way to kick off 2013 in Cincinnati."
