A snowstorm has dove into parts of the southwest bringing wind, snow and cold. The Arizona and New Mexico mountains are expected to get a thick white coating overnight tonight. A storm system is pushing deep into the southwest. The cold air will be enough to bring 3-5" of snow above 5,000 feet for areas all the way down to the Mexico/US border. Elevations above 7,000 feet are expected to get up to 10" of snow with 40 mph winds and very cold temperatures. This same storm system will push northeast and bring rain to Ohio and Michigan for the weekend. Temperatures will warm up enough to keep snow away from the lower Great Lakes region. The streak of snowless days now ties the all time record at 283 days.

Portions of Moore, Oklahoma were ravaged by a mile-wide tornado this Monday afternoon. This follows a near-record quiet start to tornado season. Strong storms may reach northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan by Tuesday.
