Posted: Updated:

The Oregon Police Department is boosting officer presence at local schools Monday, following the Newtown elementary school shootings.

According to the department's Facebook page, Oregon school officials requested the additional  presence.

Police say there is no cause for alarm if you notice the extra officers. Schools officials say they're trying to create a sense of security for students.
