Waite students help the needy

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

It's an annual tradition at Waite High School. Every year students create food and gift baskets for families living in East and South Toledo.

Senior Megan Bengel said, "You learn just how much a community can come together and how they can help other people in need."

More than 50 less-fortunate families will now have all the ingredients for Christmas dinner. The baskets contain canned goods and sometimes hams or Christmas presents for the kids.

Waite alumni join in the giving and come back to their school to roll up their sleeves and help out.

Waite High School students have been delivering food baskets to families in need at Christmas for more than 80 years.
