At an age when most kids are asking Santa Claus for gifts, six-year-old Conner Nicodemus is giving to others.

The Maumee boy organized a food drive. He's been gathering donations for the past month to help those in need.

Mom Jodi Gray says it started when he was making his Christmas wish list and she reminded him to be thankful.

"There's a lot of people who don't have what you have. They don't have clothes, they don't have food to eat and it just got started from there. He said he wanted to collect for people and help the less fortunate."

Jodi helped Conner make fliers and they created a Facebook event page called "Conner's Giving."

Gray warned her son the might not meet his goal of 15 boxes, but then donations started pouring in.

"My places of employment donated food, my parents and neighbors. I mean, it's amazing, amazing. He set a goal of 15 and we ended up collecting 40 boxes."

They've already delivered several boxes to Mom's House, an organization that helps young single mothers finish school. They plan to deliver the rest to Beach House Family Shelter which helps struggling families turn their lives around.

Jodi Gray says her son enjoys giving. "To see his face light up when he's handing boxes over, that makes it all worth it."

Connor and his mother will accept donations through the end of December.
