Family & friends remember baby Avery

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Emotions ran high on Saturday night as friends, family and strangers gathered to remember 6-month-old Avery Bacon. The baby boy died Tuesday at the Mott Children's Hospital in Michigan after police say his mother Amanda Bacon threw him in a fit of rage and fractured his skull.

Avery's father Jeremy Glynn says he misses his son and is thankful for all the prayers.

"It's remarkable all these people coming together as one source of positive energy to try and deflect all the negative. I thank everyone for coming and for everything they've done."

Avery's big brother, 6-year-old Jeremy, Jr., held a candle and wore his baby brother's knitted cap.

Dad Jeremy, Sr. said, "This is Avery's hat and I keep it and wear it at night when I miss him. He (Jeremy, Jr.) wasn't too strong today, so I'm going to let him wear it."

Katrina Herron, a friend of Amanda Bacon, organized the vigil. At one point Amanda and little Avery lived with her for two months.

"I knew Amanda was going through a hard time, " Herron said. "He was a good baby and deserved a lot better."

Amanda Bacon was indicted by the Lucas County Grand Jury on charges of child endangering and  remains locked up on a $1 million bond.
