Posted: Updated:

If you are a patient at Mercy Memorial hospital in Monroe you might see the employees wearing masks.

The Monroe News reports flu season is in full swing and the hospital requires any employee who doesn't get a flu shot to wear a mask while working.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says flu season is here early.

Mercy Memorial's goal is to have 90% of the staff vaccinated, to protect both employees and patients from the virus.

Doctors say anyone 6 months of age or older are eligible for a flu shot. They vaccine is available now at area doctor's offices and pharmacies.
