Blizzard and winter storm warnings continue throughout the day for Northwest Ohio while southern Michigan counties are under a winter weather advisory. 13abc crews in Hancock, Seneca, Lucas and Wood
Snow topped 9.5" in Lima, 8" in Port Clinton and 4" in parts of Lucas County. Several counties declared level one or two snow emergencies in Northwest Ohio and discouraged unnecessary travel on Wednesday.
Through 9 PM, 3.2" of snow has accumulated at the 13abc studio, and snow continues to fall. There is a persistent band of slightly heavier snow across western Lucas County into Bowling Green. Some areas could receive another 1" or 2", on top of what has already fallen. For most of us, though, the storm is winding down.

Beyond the snow, strong winds have blown the snow into drifts, and dramatically reduced visibilities, especially in the eastern part of our area. Here are three of the peak wind reports:
* Tree down, 1 mile SW of West Jefferson, Williams County * Gust to 41 mph in Evansport, Defiance County * Gust to 40 mph in Toledo, Lucas County
There were likely additional gusts of around 40 - 45 mph in some locations near the lakeshore.

Portions of Moore, Oklahoma were ravaged by a mile-wide tornado this Monday afternoon. This follows a near-record quiet start to tornado season. Strong storms may reach northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan by Tuesday.
