Columbia Gas: nearly $1 million offered for heat assistance

Posted: Updated:

Columbia Gas of Ohio says it is making nearly $1 million dollars in heating bill assistance available for income-eligible customers this winter.

This money is in addition to established public energy programs such as HEAP and Ohio's PIPP Plus program.

The funds include:

The Auction Fuel Fund, which is a fund of last resort for families who have exhausted all other available emergency assistance programs. This fund provides up to $250 per family per heating season. Households at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level qualify for this fund.

The Crisis Fuel Fund is also a fund of last resort for customers who are disconnected or threatened with disconnection. It provides up to $175 for families below %150 of the Federal Poverty Level.

HeatShare is available to homes with income ranges at or below %150 of the Federal Poverty Level. It provides emergency help to payment-troubled households and is administered by The Salvation Army.

Qualified Columbia customers may apply through their local Community Action Agency. Information is available at ColumbiaGasOhio.com or by calling Columbia Gas' Customer Contact Center at 1-800-344-4077.
