Light snow for some, on New Year's Eve

Posted: Updated:
TOLEDO, Ohio -

Another round of light snow is in our forecast, but this time, we'll be brushed by the northern edge of a storm system that will pass closer to Cincinnati.  Low pressure is producing snow and rain in parts of Texas and New Mexico this Sunday evening, and it will track northeastward, up the Ohio Valley as we close out 2012.  A round of light snow and snow showers will become likely, especially to the south of Toledo, on New Year's Eve, in the late afternoon and evening.  A dusting to an inch of snow is possible, primarily near and south of the Ohio Turnpike.  Farther north, in southeast Michigan, only a few snow flurries are expected.  The area most likely to see more than a half inch of snow is Ottawa, Findlay, Tiffin, Lima, Upper Sandusky, and surrounding areas.

If a tornado threatens, get into the basement. If you don't have a basement, a small, interior room in the lowest floor of your home is relatively safe. Avoid rooms with windows. Mobile homes are not safe in a tornado.

Imagine picking up the phone to hear your grandchild is in trouble.  You're told not to tell any other family members, and send cash right away. Chances are, it's a crook trying to pull the 'Grandma Scam'.
