SLIPPERY ROCK, P.A. - Taking to the hardwood for the final time in the 2012 calendar year, Lourdes also wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 68-60 victory over NCAA Division II Slippery Rock at the Morrow Field House in Slippery Rock, Pa.

The Gray Wolves had five players score in double figures on the afternoon and rallied from an 11-point first half deficit to earn the victory and snap an eight-game losing skid.

"This was a great win for us against a NCAA Division II school," head coach Zareth Gray said after the contest.  "We played really well on both ends of the floor today which is something we haven't been doing.  We only had eight turnovers and handed out 14 assists, so we really took care of the basketball."

A 14-2 run by The Rock helped the hosts build an 11-point advantage, 26-15, at the 7:52 mark of the first half.  A 14-3 spurt by Lourdes before the end of the half though, capped with a jumper by Tiffany Scott (Ottawa Lake, Mich./Sylvania Southview H.S.) tied the game at 29 with 1:59 to play before intermission.  A Tiffani Blackman (Toledo, Ohio/Start H.S.) in the final 30 seconds of the half gave the Gray Wolves a 35-34 lead at the break.

"I thought we came out sluggish today, but Tiffany Scott came in and gave us a boost off of the bench," Gray added.  "She provided a lot of energy for us."

Scott nearly had a double-double at intermission with 13 points and nine rebounds in the opening stanza.

After the two teams traded leads early in the second half, a Tarynn Hampton (Saint Louis, Mo./Alton H.S.) layup at the 16:16 mark gave Lourdes the lead for good.  Slippery Rock would tie the contest several times in the second half, but the Gray Wolves would not relinquish the lead.

With the game tied at 51, Lourdes went on a 9-2 run to build a seven-point advantage, its largest to that point, with just under four minutes to play on a conventional three-point play by Hampton.  Ty Ali (Chicago, Ill./Rich South H.S.) made five-of-six free throws in the final minute to secure the victory for the Gray Wolves.

Lauren Tilden (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna H.S.) led the way for Lourdes with 14 points, making four three-pointers, while handing out four assists.  Scott added a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards, while Hampton, Ali, and Emily Orsini (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban H.S.) each added 13 points as well.  Hampton pulled down eight rebounds while Ali handed out six assists.  Orsini drained three triples.

"The balanced scoring really helped us because they couldn't concentrate on just one player," Gray stated.  "We're doing a better job of learning to play inside-out."

Alexas Brown led all scorers with 18 points for Slippery Rock (2-7) while D'Asia Chambers added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Lourdes (4-11) will return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening, traveling to Adrian, Mich. to face Siena Heights.  Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
