New Year's deadliest day to walk

Posted: Updated:

New Year's Day is the deadliest day of the year to walk.

Research compiled over several years shows that pedestrian deaths were the highest on New Year's Day. More than half of those killed had high-blood alcohol levels.

The easiest way to stay safe is to stay on the sidewalk and only cross at designated crosswalks. It's also safer to walk with a buddy, since it's easier for drivers to spot more than one person.
